Shared note

b. 17 Feb 1817, Tibshelf, parents William Marriott and Sarah.
George Marriott married Ann Gothard 25 December 1837 at Backwell, ref: Oct-Dec 1837, Mansfield 15-921.
They had a daughter, Mary E Marriott, b1838 in Blackwell. George and Ann are present on the 1841 and 1851 census returns, then on the 1861 census, Ann is not with George but is living in Clay Cross (near Chesterfield) with daughter Sarah and husband Thomas Boot. Then Ann turns up again on the 1871 and 1881 census returns with husband George! George died 8 Jan 1887 at Tibshelf, ref: Jan-Mar 1887, Mansfield 7b-35, and was buried in Blackwell. Son-in-law Thomas Cuttell (husband of Maria Marriott) present at death.

1841 census: George and Ann living in Newton Green, parish of Blackwell, with children Mary (b1838) and Ann (b1841). Living nearby are the Gothard family, Thomas (b1781) Ann (b1788) with children Joseph (b1821) Elizabeth (b1821). "Our" Ann Gothard (b1816), who married George Marriott, was the daughter of this family.

1851 census: George (b1817, Tibshelf) and Ann (b1816, Shirland) living in Tibshelf, with children Mary (b1838, Blackwell), Ann (b1841, Blackwell), Sarah (b1844, Tibshelf), Maria (b1846, Tibshelf).
Thomas Gothard (b1781, Shirland) and Ann (b1788, Scarliffe) are still living in Newton, and Thomas is shown as being born in Shirland.

1861 census: George (1817, Tibshelf) living with:
Margaret Hallam, b. abt. 1860 Tibshelf, Derbyshire, England, Relationship "Granddaughter"
Mary Hallam, b. 1838, Newton, Derbyshire, England, Relationship, "Daughter"
William Hallam, b. abt. 1858, Tibshelf, Derbyshire, England, Relationship "Grandson"
Maria Marriott, b1846, Tibshelf, Relationship "Daughter".
Mary Hallam is the daughter of George and Ann who was born Oct-Dec 1838, and who presumably married someone called Hallam. There is a marriage in 1857 between Mary Elizabeth Marriott and Walter Hallam, ref: Apr-Jun 1857, Mansfield 7b-97.
There is no sign of Walter in the census, but there is a daughter aged 1, so presumably he has just died, which is why the father George is (temporarily) living with them..
Ann (b1816, Shirland) is not with George but is living in Clay Cross (near Chesterfield) with daughter Sarah and husband Thomas Boot
In 1861, Ann's mother (also called Ann, b1788, Scarliffe) is still alive and living in Newton.

1871 census: George (b1817) and Ann (b1817) back together again, and living with them is Maragret Hallam (granddaughter b1860), and next door is grandson William Hallam (b1858). Presumably both parents have died.
