b 1799 at Frome, bp 15 Sep 1799 at Beckington (3m Frome, Somerset).
As a young man (1824, 1826) he was a Clothier, living in Nunney. By 1835 he was a Stationer.
In 1861 he was an Accountant and a Proprietor of Houses.

1799: born in Frome, baptised in Beckington (3m NE Frome).
1822: marries in Frome and sets up house in Nunney (3m SW Frome).
1824: marries in Paulton (10m NW Frome). Wife is from Stowey (5m NW Paulton, 16m NW Frome).
1824: has child in Nunney and baptises it in Nunney.
1826: has child in Nunney but baptises it in West Harptree.
1835: living in Bristol, but baptises child in West Harptree (3m SW Stowey, 12m S Bristol).
1841-1861, lives in Bristol.
1866: dies in Glucester, where he seems to have moved to.

m by licence 19 Sep 1822 at Frome St John to Elizabeth Payne, James's name given simply as James Coombs (no Highatt). On license, also mentioned a Benjamin Coombs.
Witness on wedding certificate was Charles Coombs.

Wife seems to have died almost immediately in 1823.

m by licence 17 Mar 1824 at Paulton to Betty Sherborne, name now given as James Highatt Coombs.

Only 3 children, which seems strange:
Bessie Sherborne Cooms b 25 Dec 1824 at Nunney.
James Highatt Coombs b 5 Mar 1826 at Nunney, d 1 Oct 1826 at West Harptree
Benjamin Coombs, b1835 at Bristol, but baptised 27 Sep 1835 at West Harptree, Somerset.

d 6 Mar 1866 at 27 St Mark Street, Kingsholm, Gloucester, probate proved 18 April 1866.
