William Slack is a bit of an enigma, I have been unable to determine when he died. I am pretty sure about his parentage, so have included it. To be completely sure about him, would need to buy his marriage certificate in 1916, possible death certificate in 1922 and, possibly the most important, the marriage certificate of his daughter Edna in 1938, which could indicate if he was still alive. The 1939 census is strange, it shows his wife Lizzie as being married (not widowed), but does not include her husband in the family. Analysis of other 1939 census returns fails to identify a suitable William Slack living alone or somewhere else. Furthermore the 1939 census of wife Lizze also includes a John Slack born in 1925, of which there is no trace in the GRO birth records!
All very strange. William Slack born 3Q1893 bp 4 Mar 1894 at Tibshelf, parents William Slack (b 16 Aug 1864) and Eliza Wass (b1864) who married 25 Dec 1884 at Tibshelf.
