Not 100% sure about this, but the dates fit. A Thomas Goodall certainly married Mary Porter 14 Apr 1667 in Mucklestone, Staffs. No idea what Thomas Goodall of Ashover was doing there. There are no Goodall families in the Mucklestone area, so Thomas came from somewhere. No other Thomas Goodall marriages in the range 1667-1668 anywhere in the country. In the Mucklestone area, there is no one with name "Mary" Porter, but there is Margery, and Mary could easily be a diminutive of Margery. The time between the death of Thomas's first wife Ellen in January 1667 and this marriage in April could be a problem. The death is also reported elsewhere as January 1666, but following the usual logic, 1667 seems the correct date. Thomas and Mary died within a few days of each other, in November 1707 at Ashover Dicklant (Milltown). |
