Previously he was married, possibly to a "Protherton", and they had a son George b 3Q1839 at Northampton St Giles. She must have died, as William remarried 9 May 1843 to Jane Davis (witness was a certain Robert Davis). William was a shoemaker. When William Pickering died during the 1850s, Jane married her next-door neighbour, William Edwards, also a shoemaker. Jane is with William Edwards during the 1861 census, not sure about Henry. I thought he had been shipped off to possibly his grandparents, another William Pickering (b1797) and Ann (b1803), in Earl Shilton, Leicestershire. However, the dates don't match and that Henry now seems to be the son of another Henry Pickering b1825 and wife Sarah. Can't find any trace of him at all until in 1901 he turns up living with Mary Machin (she has taken his name, but cannot find any marriage). Died 3Q1905 at Tibshelf.
