apparently born around 1661, couldn't find any Martha Sellars of suitable age in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. Married Anthony Fogg 2 Aug 1683 at Wirksworth. Died 17 Feb 1715 at Wirksworth. There is though no real proof that the Martha Fogg who died on 17 Feb 1715 was not in reality the wife of Richard Fogg. It just seems more probable that Anthony and his Martha were both living and dying in Wirksworth at the same time. Richard's widow could have moved away from Wirksworth following his death in 1689. There don't seem to be any other Martha Foggs dying in the area, so one of them has disappeared. There is a marriage of a Martha Fogg in 1706 to a John Timperley which at first thought could have been a remarriage, but then children started appearing for the next 10 years. So my reasoned conclusion is that Richard's widow moved away, and the Martha Fogg who died in 1715 was the wife of Richard's brother Anthony Fogg. |
