Born 8 Feb 1850 at Kingswinford, Brierley Hill, Staffordshire, parents Joseph Grice (b 1819, Netherseal, Leics) and Fanny Croxall (b 1821, Bretby, Derbyshire).
She had a number of siblings: William Cole (b3Q1842, Gresley), Joseph John (b2Q1845, Kingswinford), Thomas (b4Q1847, Kingswinford), Amelia (b1853, Lambeth), George (b1855, Lambeth), Mary (b1857, Lambeth), Letitia (b1860, Lambeth), James (b4Q1862, Lambeth).
Soon after her birth, the family moved to Lambeth, where she grew up.
She married William Henry Marshall 28 Mar 1869 at Battersea.
They had a child, William George Marshall (b4Q1869).
Her husband died 2Q1870 in London, and she moved back to Brierley Hill, Staffs, and was living with her father in the 1871 census, who had moved back to Staffs, possibly after the death of his wife in 1863.
She re-married 30 Jul 1871 at Swadlincote to John Gilliver.
