Born 27 Mar 1863 at Derby, baptised 30 Aug 1866 at Riddings, Alfreton together with brother Thomas William and half-brother George Latham. Marriage banns were published in Derby St Werburgh in August 1885 between Daniel and Jane Baird of Bedlington, Northumberland, but they don't seem to have married until 23 Aug 1887 at Bedlington (date from Jane Mosse tree 32678397). Strangely though there seems to have been a period in Australia in 1886, as we also have a record of a Jeanie Baird Goodall b1886 at Fitzroy, Victoria, parents Daniel Richard Goodall and Jeanie Baird. The child doesn't appear in the UK though. 1891 Census shows Daniel in Newcastle upon Tyne living with wife Jane and child Sophia Jane Goodall (b 30 Aug 1888). Second child Mary Ellen Goodall (b 20 Aug 1892) at Newcastle. 1901 Census shows Daniel, now widowed, living with his children Sophia Jane (b1888) and Mary Ellen (b1892) and a housekeeper, Alice somebody from Tissington. Occupation, cabinet maker 1911 Census: no trace of Daniel or the children anywhere! There is though a D Goodall, Carpenter travelling to Australia in 1908, so perhaps he was in Australia again. In 1918 Daniel R Goodall married Mary Sibbit Elliott 27 Nov 1918 at Newcastle (date from jane Mosse). 1939 Census: in Newcastle upon Tyne, with second wife Mary Sibbit Goodall and daughter Sophia and husband Henry. Death: 5 May 1944, ref Newcastle upon Tyne, 10b 140 Probate 10 Jul 1944 at Newcastle upon Tyne, granted to wife Mary Sibbit Goodall and daughter Sophia Jane Gee.
