Following death of both parents (1868 and 1872), he went to live with his grandparents (mother's side), Joseph and Elizabeth Cooper, in Newbold, Worthington, on the same street as (our) Frances Johnson, his aunt! He married Mary Bird 25 Oct 1886 at Breedon. Witnesses were William Cooper and Elizabeth Johnson. William Cooper must have been a relative on his mother's side, not sure who this Elizabeth Johnson was: possibly she was the Elizabeth Johnson b1862, daughter of Joseph Johnson and Mary Baker (Joseph was a younger borther of "our" Frances Johnson b1829). Date of birth from 1939 census, which, erroneously, gives the year of birth as 1852 instead of 1862.
