b in Staunton Harold, baptised 6 July 1856 at Worthington. ref: C02329-3; 596083, item 1 p62 (see photo extract) In 1861 census, he is living with his mother Frances as a pauper in Ashby Workhouse. Place of birth given as Heather, where his father was from. I think this was possibly wrong, at the time his parents were based in Heather, when they weren't in the workhouse. All subsequent census returns give his place of birth as Staunton. In the 1871 Census John is listed as being age 15, and as living with his grandparents Joseph & Sarah Johnson. Census was in Lount Worthington. In the 1881 Census John is listed as being a boarder, age 25 years, with grandmother Sarah Johnson, who was a Widow at the time, and her son John Johnson (b1835), who was a coalminer, and with half sister Mary A. Johnson age 15 yrs. born in Staunton. He married Lizzie Earp Jan-Mar 1884, later census returns show their descendants starting in 1885), living in Worthington. He was present at the death of his mother Frances Johnson 22 Jan 1903, and at the time was living in Gelsmoor, Worthington. He died Apr-Jun 1910 aged 54, ref: Leicester 7a 127
