(from Greg) Uncle Theodore was well known in the family. He was an Anglican rector who served for many years as the Rector of St Giles Bodium, East Sussex and he was visited there in 1913 by his nephew from Australia, my great grandfather Francis Wardell-Johnson. Theodore was very quizzical about the hyphenated name as his brother William had unilaterally hyphenated it in Australia - supposedly very soon after the death of his grandmother Sarah (nee Wardle) in Whitwick in 1873 because there was a chance he would inherit some Wardle/Wardell money!
