Baptism of Frederick Johnson b 29 Apr 1827 in Worthington, son of William and Sarah Johnson. Subsequent census returns give his birth place as Newbold (1 mile).
In 1841 census he is living with parents William and Sarah, and siblings Benjamin (1826), Jacob (1829) and Sarah (1831).
In 1849, he marries Fanny Hutchinson of Whitwick (ref: Jul-Sep 1849, Ashby 15 27) and goes to live in Whitwick. They have a daughter Sabrah (Sarah?) b1850.
In 1851 census he is still married to Fanny Hutchinson.
Fanny then dies, not completely sure when, most likely early 1855 (ref: Jan-Mar 1855 Ashby 7A 82).
On 25 Dec 1855, Frederick marries Elizabeth Stuart née Varnon, a widow from Ripley, (ref: Oct-Dec 1855 Shardlow 7B 586). Elizabeth's young son, William, b1854 in Ripley, goes to live with them.
In 1857 Frederick and Elizabeth have a child Mary Sarah Johnson in Breedon, while in 1860 they have a son Frederick in Ripley, so they must have moved to where Elizabeth was originally from.
In the 1861 census the family is still living in Ripley. Elizabeth's son William Stuart (Stewart) is erroneously registered as "son-in-law" instead of "stepson".
In the 1871 census, they are living in Staveley, Derbyshire. William (b1854) is registered as William Johnson, while in 1881 he is back to being William Stewart. The daughter Mary Sarah (b1857) is registered simply as Sarah, while son Frederick (b1860) has disappeared.
In the 1881 census, Frederick is living at Bestwood Park, Nottingham with the younger children, while Elizabeth was staying with son William Stewart and wife in Walsall.
In the 1891 census, Frederick and Elizabeth are living in Bulwell, Nottingham.
Frederick died 28 Jan 1893 in Bulwell (ref: Basford 7b 118) following a mining accident.
In the 1901 census, Elizabeth is living with daughter Laura and husband in Bulwell. children with Elizabeth Varnon:
