A bit of a mystery, it took quite a lot of sorting out to understand who his wife was, and where their children were born. I haven't found either his date of birth or where he was born, we know he married in 1824 to Mary Johnson and had 7 children. He was a Nailer, whatever that was. Most probably died between 1838 and 1841. Of the candidates, these looked promising, but purchasing the death cetificates indicated that these were not "ours": - b1785 d1838 at Burslem, Staffs (he was a colour manufacturer, not a Nailer)
- b1796 d1840 at Shelton, Staffs (he was Crate Maker, not a Nailer)
Many ancestry trees have him married to the wrong "Mary", that is Mary Muchall, but if you check the baptism records, that William and Mary had their children in different places, and didn't have a daughter Hannah in 1834. |
