b probably in 1780, according to the 1851 census at Grimsbury, Northants, just outside Banbury. bp 15 Apr 1781 at Kineton, Warwicks, some 11 miles from Grimsbury. m 26 Sep 1810 to Thomas Kelcher at Fathinghoe, Northants. d 2 Dec 1852 at Cropredy, Oxon. A number of inconsistencies around this person. She is named as Hannah Kelcher in the baptism record of her first child, but in her wedding certificate she was Susanna (Goldby). Her death certificate has her as Hannah Skelcher, while her burial certificate simply says Anna Kelcher. It seemed strange that she was 8 years younger than her husband, while led me to suspect that this was her second marriage, and that her maiden name was not Goldby. There was, for example, a Samuel Goldby who married a Susanna Turner in 1800 at Towcester. I couldn't though find Samuel's premature death to let her re-marry. Then there is the question of her place of birth: on the 1851 census it says Grimsbury, Borthants (just outside of Banbury), while her baptism seems to be at Kineton, some 11 miles from Grimsbury. Then she married at Farthinghoe, Northants, which is neither here nor there and not reported anywhere else. |
