It looks quite likely that she was baptised at Camerton 22 Apr 1744, and that the priest made a mistake when registering her baptism. He wrote "Martha baptised 22 Apr 1744, daughter of Samuel and Ann". There is no record of any "Samuel and Ann". There is a "Samuel and Dorothy", who started having children in 1736 at Camerton. Then there is a "John and Ann", whose first registered child was in 1746 at Camerton. It is most likely that Martha was instead daughter of John and Ann. The dates fit. She was born in 1744, and so in 1762 when she married, she was "between 18 and 21", as required by the declarations in her marriage licence, which her father John underwrote.
John and Ann had other children between 1746 and 1750, when Ann dies.
Anyway, there are no other Martha Evans anywhere in Somerset that were born between 1741 and 1744 with father John.
