First Quakers in Dent were brothers Thomas and George Mason in 1652. Meetings were regularly held at the
homes of Alexander Hebblethwaite, William Mason, Thomas and Jason Greenwood, Anthony Mason, and Richard Harrison in the 1660s and 1670s. House bought at Loneing as a Meeting House in 1682, with a burial ground across the way. Another Meeting House built in 1703 at Lea Yeat (near Cowgill). After 1800, Quakers stopped meeting at Loneing, while Lea Yeat was discontinued in 1911.
