Preston Patrick, because james and his wife moved there after James's marriage. The Wakefield family in Preston was that of Roger Wakefield and Hannah Preston, who married in 1665, and had 4 children between 1667 and 1674. No sign unfortunately of a son called James.

The only "James" Wakefield in area was baptised 22 Jun 1659 at Edenhall, Cumberland (35 m N Sedbergh), father Gilbert. There is no link with Preston though, and this James would have been 18 years older than his wife Agnes Mason.
