The Wakefield family in Preston was that of Roger Wakefield and Hannah Preston, who married in 1665, and had 4 children between 1667 and 1674. No sign unfortunately of a son called James. The only "James" Wakefield in area was baptised 22 Jun 1659 at Edenhall, Cumberland (35 m N Sedbergh), father Gilbert.
