Goodall Genealogy

Born 10 Jun 1891 at Tibshelf, ref: Mansfield 7b 71, baptised 23 Aug 1891 at Tibshelf, parents James Goodall and Elizabeth Radford.
In the 1939 census, he was living in Burgass Rd, Nottingham, and there was an Annie Goodall b 24 Jun 1881 living with him. No exact proof who she was, I suspect it was his wife, even though the census says he was a widower, but it does say that Annie was married. She died 2Q1960 at Nottingham. John Goodall died 4Q1967 at Nottingham.

Some confusion over possible marriages for John Goodall. I originally thought that he married Edith Castledine 1Q1919 in Somercotes, Alfreton, then, following her death in 1935, he re-married Jul-Sep 1947 to Ada Lilian Hewitt at Ilkeston.

This has since proved to be incorrect, that was a different John Goodall, specifically John Edward Goodall, not related to us, who was born 14 May 1893 and baptised 3 July 1893 at Somercotes. His parents were Edward Goodall (b 31 May 182 in Bedfordshire) and Sarah Ann Warsop (b 1870 at Manchester). In the 1939 census, John Edward Goodall was living with his children Iris b 12 Sep 1920 (who married Adkin) and Frank b 30 Oct 1923, both of whose mother was the afore-mentioned Edith Castledine. The fact that his birth date is 1893 excludes him from being "our" John Goodall, who was born 10 Jun 1891, with mother Elizabeth Radford, and baptised 23 Aug 1891 at Tibshelf. The baptism in 1891 proves that the John E Goodall born in 1893 is not ours. John Edward Goodall died 28 January 1962 at Derby Royal Infirmary. At the time, he was living at 80 Springfield Ave, Sandiacre, Derbyshire. This exclusion also means that Frank Goodall b1923 and his son Nigel Goodall b1959, who at one time was my mother's dentist, are not part of our family tree.
