Steward to Earl Ferrers of Staunton Harold, Leicestershire. Murdered by the Earl on 17 January 1760. From his gravestone, it can be seen that he was born about 1710, and was married to Anne, who died in 1757. The Earl of Ferrers was the son of the Hon. Lawrence Shirley, third surviving son of the first Earl. Earl Ferrers killed John Johnson, his land-steward, was tried, condemned for murder and hanged at Tyburn on 5 May 1760.
