The marriage in 1894 said he was 36 (so born 1858), but all census returns indicate a date about 10 years earlier. If we take the 1851 and 1861 census dates as being closest, then he was born in 1848, most probably Apr-Jun 1848 in Coton In The Elms, Derbyshire. He married Jane Hill on July 15, 1894, in Newhall, Derbyshire. He died in August 1924 in Newhall, Derbyshire, at the age of 76.
