Shared note

Baptised 16 Mar 1828 at Armitage.
She appears to have married very young, aged 16, 9 Dec 1844 to Samuel Hartshorn at St Michael's church at Rushall, Walsall. She was apparently living in Cannon St, Bycroft, which Google cannot find. There is a Cannon St in Walsall itself just 1 mile from this church. It does appear to be our Harriett, her father was Peter Clark, who just about managed to sign his name, while his mother signed normally. If you look at the wedding of parents Peter and Elizabeth, her signature is practically the same, whereas Peter at the time couldn't sign his name. So it is her.
In 1851, the young couple are living in Walsall and Samuel's age is given as 26 (b1825 at Bilston Staffs). Harriett is shown as aged 24 (b1827 at Rugeley). Strange that Samuel is stated in his marriage certificate as being of full age at the time. Can't find a baptism for Samuel Hartshorn in Bilston, but at Tipton, Staffs, just 3 miles away, there is one, but 28 Oct 1821, which would make Samuel older than thought, and thus certainly of age (23) when he married his 16 year old bride. I think this is right. First child Rosanna born 4Q1845, so perhaps she was pregnant when marrying, perhaps not. Mother's surname Clark. Josiah b4Q1849.
So far so good.
In 1861, Harriett and Samuel are living in Walsall, and now Samuel's birthplace is given as Oldbury, Worcestershire, in 1826. Harriet is Rugeley 1828. Oldbury is not that far from Tipton (3m) but a bit farther (6m) from Bilston.
In 1871 Harriett is a widow living in Walsall. Difficult to find husband's death, the only entry remotely close is a death 1Q1864 at Manchester aged 41 (b1823) (but subsequently we will see that he died 1871).
In 1881 living with mother Elizabeth Clark nee Hall.
In 1891 living in Bloxwich, Walsall with son James aged 18 b1Q1872. So this must mean that her husband died in early 1871 before the census was taken. There is no trace of this death.
In 1901 still alive and living in Short Heath, Staffs, aged 77 (b1824 at Rugeley). Note that son James was also living in Short Heath with his wife and family, so it looks like she moved there to be near to him.
Died 4Q1909 at Short Heath, reg Wolverhampton, aged (b1823).
By the way, Janice has got her Harriett and Samuels mixed up with another couple, so a lot of her data is incorrect.
