The name Berrisford seems to be interchanged with Basford in previous generations. The death of Mary Berrisford Slack 20 May 1812, aged 66 means she was born around 1744/1745. There seem to be 2 candidate dates: 30 Jan 1745 to parents Joseph and Elizabeth (Booth), and 12 Aug 1744, to parents Thomas and Anne (Hole). There is also a further date of 14 Apr 1751 to parents John Berrisford and Hannah Ivins, although this does not match the age at death of 66. The Mary born 12 Aug 1744 seems to be the Mary who married Cornelius Crich on 2 May 1766. In the marriage license it gives her age as 23, which would mean birth in 1743. The Ashover archives database has linked the 30 Jan 1745 Mary with the marriage in 1779 to Abraham Slack and also to her death in 1812. So, based on this and effectively little else, I am going to include this Mary in the tree. I have obtained a copy of the license of the other Mary to Cornelius Crich, but apart from her age and Cornelius's age (35), there is little else to help us. For the record, first child Cornelius born 29 Sep 1766; second child Alice Crick born 4 March 1768, and Mary died in childbirth that same day. In the "not used" folder, I have included the marriage license plus other birth and death extracts which can be included if in the future other evidence is uncovered as to which Mary is "ours". Assuming that the parents were Joseph Berrisford (Basford) and Elizabeth Booth, the following data is available: Joseph Berrisford b 13 Dec 1713 d 30 Nov 1714, parents David and Mary; Joseph Bastford b 6 Nov 1715 to parents David and Mary; m 5 Mar 1739 to Elizabeth Booth in Chesterfield; d 7 Nov 1780 at Ashover. Elizabeth Booth b 3 Jun 1719; d 29 Jun 1777 in Ashover, parents Robert and Hannah. David Berrisford (Basford) b 11 Feb 1683 in Ashover; m 4 Feb 1705 to Mary Oates in Ashover; d11 Oct 1758 in Ashover.
