Shared note

Born Alfreton, Apr-Jun 1878, ref Belper 7b 611
Married Thomas Goodall in Elmton, Derbyshire, 3 Apr 1899; ref Apr-Jun 1899, Worksop 7b 63
Died 11 December 1962 in Sutherland, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
Death certificate says she was born in Alfreton and that her parents were Alfred Whittle (miner) and Tryphena Vallance. Death reported by A. Whitlam (Grandson). She had been resident in Australia since 1922.
The 1881 and 1891 census say she was born in Alfreton and was living there with her parents.
In the 1901 census, her parents are living in Elmton, which is presumably why she had married there in 1899. There is no trace of Leah, however, in the 1901 census. It is possible that Leah and Thomas had gone to Australia and left their daughter Elsie May (b1900 in Creswell, 2m from Elmton) with her parents, as there is an Elsie May Goodall (b1900) on the 1901 census with Leah's parents.
It is also possible that they came back from Australia in 1901, as we have their son Arthur Ernest being born Jan/Mar 1902 in Newton.
In the 1911 census, Leah is living near Doncaster with husband Thomas and children Elsie and Arthur.
Note that also her parents are at that time living in Yorkshire.
