Shared note

Richard Goodall was born 15 July 1838 in Overton, Ashover, Derbyshire (date given on birth certificate), while Bishops Transcripts show 19 Aug 1838, which is the baptism date.
In 1841 census, living in Overton, Ashover (aged 2).
In 1851 census, living in Brown Lane, Ashover (aged 12). His father is missing from the census, as he died in 1845.
In 1861 census, no mention in Brown Lane, as he was living with brother Thomas in Alfreton (see census returns). This is presumably where he met his future wife, Hannah Allen, who was from Swanwick, Alfreton, Derbyshire.
He married Hannah Allen in Holloway Chapel, Ashover, 21 November 1861.
In 1871 census, living at Princess Terrace, Tibshelf, Derbyshire (aged 32). Occupation coalminer. Wife is Hannah (Allen), born 4 May 1843 in Swanwick, Alfreton, Derbyshire.
Children (Sarah-9, Richard-7, Harriet-5, Joseph-2) all born at Somercotes.
In 1881 census, living at 10 Primrose Terrace, Tibshelf (aged 42). Occupation colliery contractor.
Wife is Hannah (Allen) (aged 37).
Children (Sarah_Ann-18, Richard-16, Harriet-14, Joseph-12 (all born Alfreton), Thomas-7, John_Henry-6, Samuel-2 (all born Tibshelf).
Richard Goodall died 26 August 1901 at Littlemoor House, Newton, Blackwell, aged 63 years. His son Joseph Goodall (b1868, our ancestor), then resident at Victoria Terrace, Tibshelf, was present at the death.
Richard Goodall and his wife Hannah are both buried in Blackwell Churchyard. Written on grave: "In loving memory of Richard Goodall of Newton, who died August 26, 1901, aged 63 years. Also Hannah, beloved wife of the above, who passed away January 5, 1921, aged 77 years. rest after weariness".
Note from WJL: To find graves, go up to church, past the church halfway down the centre aisle.
Note from JPL: Tonina, Les, Sallie and myself visited Blackwell cemetry on 10 July 2014, and found the grave. Photo taken.
Note from JPL: Hannah married again after Richard's death, to Daniel Jaques in 1906.

According to Samuel Wilfred Goodall, Richard was an Ostler in the mines and later a farmer at Littlemoor Farm, Newton. Interesting that in the early 1930s, Samuel Wilfred called a creek in the Elk Valley in British Columbia the "Littlemoor Creek", which my mother Muriel, myself and my wife Tonina all visited in 2002, when we went to find where the family had lived between 1928-1935.

In 1876, according to Kelly's Directory of Derbyshire, there was a Richard Goodall - Farmer at Mill Town, Ashover. Not sure if this is he.
In 1884, there was a Richard Goodall - Farmer at Tibshelf.
In 1888 Richard and Thomas Goodall were farmers and horsekeepers at Tibshelf.
