Richard Goodall was born 15 July 1838 in Overton, Ashover, Derbyshire (date given on birth certificate), while Bishops Transcripts show 19 Aug 1838, which is the baptism date. According to Samuel Wilfred Goodall, Richard was an Ostler in the mines and later a farmer at Littlemoor Farm, Newton. Interesting that in the early 1930s, Samuel Wilfred called a creek in the Elk Valley in British Columbia the "Littlemoor Creek", which my mother Muriel, myself and my wife Tonina all visited in 2002, when we went to find where the family had lived between 1928-1935. In 1876, according to Kelly's Directory of Derbyshire, there was a Richard Goodall - Farmer at Mill Town, Ashover. Not sure if this is he. (from Muriel) (from JPL) |
