Shared note

Ann Gothard was a bit of a mystery and it took some time to identify her madien name and where she got married. Finally idenitifed her maiden name through the birth certificate of her daughter Maria, who was born 1846.
From census returns she was born around 1816 in Shirland (exact date 6 Feb 1816, Shirland).
On birth registration it gives her christian names as "Anne Greasby", so perhaps her mother's maiden name was Greasby?
Married George Marriott 25 Dec1837 at Balckwell, ref: Oct-Nov 1837, Mansfield, 15-921.
First child Mary E Marriott was born in Blackwell in 1839.
Ann's parents were Thomas Gothard (b1781) Ann (b1788), she had a brother Joseph (b1821) and a sister Elizabeth (b1821).
Ann is on the 1841 and 1851 census returns with husband George, then on the 1861 census is not with George but is living in Clay Cross (near Chesterfield) with daughter Sarah and husband Thomas Boot. Then Ann turns up again on the 1871 and 1881 census returns with husband George! In 1891 she is a widow and living with grandson William Hallam and wife Mary Ann Hallam in Tibshelf.
Died 27 Feb 1894 in Victoria Terrace, Tibshelf, ref Jan-Mar 1894, Mansfield 7b-43
Present at the death was a certain Maria Godfrey, who was a neighbour (same census return in 1891).
