Shared note

Walter Hallam married Mary Elizabeth Marriott 13 April 1857 in Tibshelf. His father was given as James Hallam, but this seems unlikely, as his mother Elizabeth was not married. Elizabeth's father was James Hallam, so perhaps this name was used for propriety's sake.
On the certificate it says he is of full age, but census returns indicate instead birth between 1837 and 1839. It is most likely that he was b 7 May 1837 in Farnsfield, no father indicated, mother was Elizabeth Hallam, a "single woman".
Although married to Mary Elizabeth Marriott in 1857, for some reason he seems to be living apart from her in the 1861 census, still in Tibshelf. His wife can be found living with her father George, and with her children William and Margaret Hallam.
Died sometime around 1863, most likely in Yorkshire.
